SOUTHWEST ABSTRACT COMPANY

Exhibition / performance 2010
1646, The Hague (NL)

“I do believe objects can reincarnate”

In the eyes of Kaleb de Groot, each object
carries a nostalgic air of its former purpose
and meaning. Within his multi-disciplinary
oeuvre, he transforms and combines (leftover)
shapes from earlier situations in order to make
new works.
Each project leaves its traces in the next project
and is even visually memorized in the form of
a tattoo on the artists' skin.

The show in artist run space '1646' was
completed during the opening with the deafening
performance ‘Southwest abstract company’.
It had joined different parts of the exhibition
together using the wooden remains of an
earlier sculpture (from the earlier exhibition
Eat The Frame at Nouvelles Images).
